Hodge blasted 85 runs off 45 balls that included six fours and six sixes to take the game away from the Kings in a space of ten minutes with some belligerent stroke play.The turning point of the game came when Hodge took the attack to leggie Usama Mir and made 23 runs in the 16th over to keep his side in the hunt.The next over went for another fourteen runs as the Karachi bowlers wilted under the onslaught produced by Aussie batsmen Brad Hodge.
Earlier in the day, Karachi Kings opted to bat first and made 152 runs with Lendl Simmons top scoring with 49 runs.The rest of the batting line provided contributions to post a modest total.Peshawar Zalmi got off to a jittery start as Bilawal Bhatti and Mohammad Amir took out the openers early with just 25 runs after five overs.Jim Allenby made a key contribution with 31 runs but was dismissed along with Shahid Afridi in a quick succession to leave the team at 69 for 4.
Brad Hodge came to the fore and showed composure to steer his side to victory against Kings who went off the boil in the middle overs.Darren Sammy hit the winning runs by putting the ball into the stands at deep mid wicket.
The result puts Karachi Kings in perilous situation as they might not make it to the next stage of the competition as victory for Zalmi puts at the top of the table in the league
