Henry Davids blistering knock and Isuru Udana magnificent bowling lead Paarl Rocks to lift their maiden MSL crown in the finals played at Paarl.
After winning the toss, Paarl Rocks Captain Faf du Plessis and asked Tshwane Spartans to bat first.His decision paid instant dividend as hosts lost opener Tony de Zorzi in the third over. Then Dean Elgar and AB De Villiers scored 41-run partnership to stabilize the innings for Spartans.
Once Elgar departed, it was AB De Villiers, who led from the front with the bat for Spartans. Captain Heinrich Klaasen, Petrus Van Biljon and David Wiese chipped in with crucial cameo to see Tshwane Spartans post a modest score of 147 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.
AB De Villiers finished the innings with the top score of 51 off 37 with the help of three fours and one six.
For Paarl Rocks, Left-arm medium pacer Isuru Udana was the pick of the bowlers, as he claimed two wickets and gave away just 24 runs in his 4 overs. Left-arm Chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi also bowled well and claimed key wicket of Elgar and Heinrich Klaasen in this all-important final.
Hosts Paarl Rocks registered a comprehensive win over Tshwane Spartans in the finals of MSL played at Boland Park.
In reply, Paarl Rocks got off a flying start courtesy splendid batting from opener Henry Davids. He put on an 80-run partnership with Cameron Delport to see Paarl Rocks take control of the finals. Cameron Delport perished in the seventh over after scoring 18 off 18 balls.
Henry Davids delivered a blistering innings with the bat for Paarl Rocks and finished the innings with the top score of 77 not out off 44 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes, whereas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius scored unbeaten 43 off 21 with the help of four sixes. For Spartans, off-spinner Imran Manack and medium-pacer David Wiese claimed one wicket each.
For his blazing innings in the finals for Paarl Rocks, Henry Davids was awarded man of the match.
