Guyana’s spinners put on a chokehold on Patriots to register their fourth win in Caribbean Premier League 2016

The 10th game in the Caribbean Premier League 2016 saw Guyana Amazon Warriors take on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Providence Stadium in Guyana. The Patriots won the toss and decided to bat first on a slow surface.

Guyana did once again produce a splendid performance with a ball as they reduced the Patriots at 29 for 3 after 9 overs. Lendl Simmons did put a fight as he scored 50 runs off 6 0 balls in some difficult conditions for batsmen in general. He did help his side cause to get them to a total of 108 runs in 20 overs while the rest of the batting did not stand up on the day. Zampa was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while the other two spinners Jacobs and Permaul did bowl economically to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs.

Guyana lost Dwayne Smith early in the chase but captain Guptill and Lynn put on a 60 run partnership to ease the nerves and get them close to another victory. The slow surface made things difficult for batsmen as five wickets in a hurry but Warriors hold on to win the game by six wickets in the 16th over.

Guptill top scored with 43 runs off 22 balls and struck four massive sixes in his innings while Samuel Badree was economical for Patriots as he took two wickets and conceding only 17 runs.
