Chadwick Walton continued his rich vein of form to see Guyana Amazon Warriors win their fourth game on the trot in the Caribbean Premier League. The side is certainly producing excellent cricket at the moment and seem to be picking at the right time.
Warriors batted splendidly in the chase as Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi put together 135 run unbeaten stand to see their side win the game by 9 wickets. Sohail Tanvir once again bagged a duck being promoted to open the innings with Walton in this game as well.
Walton was adjudged man of the match for his stellar show with the bat as he scored 84 runs off 40 balls to see Guyana knock off the target in just 10 overs. He smashed six sixes in his innings as Jamaica bowling attack had no to the assault launched by Walton and Ronchi. Kesrick Williams went for a plenty as he conceded 46 runs off his two-over spell. Walton shifted gears as he smashed three sixes and two fours to put his side an inch close to chase down the target.
Earlier in the game, Jamaica won the toss and opted to bat first. The host lost Lendl Simmons and Glenn Phillips early in the innings. Sohail Tanvir and Rayad Emrit made early inroads by getting rid of the opening pair. Captain Kumar Sangakkara and Andre McCarthy came together to rebuild the inning as they added 79 runs in space of next nine overs. McCarthy was the aggressive and smashed three sixes to produce 44 runs off 35 balls. Roshon Primus got rid of McCarthy when the partnership was looking good for Jamaica. Sangakkara also was undone by Emrit as he scored 38 runs off 31 balls to see Jamaica only get 150 runs off their 20 overs.
Guyana with this win are fourth in the table, while Jamaica holds third place with 12 points in the Caribbean Premier League.
