Guyana Amazon Warriors brush aside Barbados Tridents by six wickets to qualify for the play-offs

The 25th game in the Caribbean Premier League saw Guyana Amazon Warriors take on struggling Barbados Tridents at Central Broward Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida

Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and decided to field first as their bowling lineup did put up an excellent performance. Barbados Tridents started well with 49 runs with the loss of opener Ahmed Shahzad. Kyle Hope also departed for 13 runs off the bowling of right arm fast medium Rayat Emrit. David Wiese and Shoaib Malik put on 48 run partnership to revive the innings.Wiese played after scoring 40 runs off 31 balls and struck three fours in his innings. He was dismissed by right arm pacer Chris Barnwell. Shoaib Malik held the innings together to score unbeaten 55 runs off 44 balls.He struck three fours and two sixes in his innings while other players like Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard fell for low scores. The rest of batting lineup fell apart as the Tridents managed to register 142 runs on the board after 20 overs. Fast bowlers Rayat Emrit and Sohail Tanvir were pick of the bowlers for Guyana as they took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Guyana openers Dwayne Smith and Nic Maddinson put on a 92 run opening stand to give ideal start for the side in the run-chase. Dwayne Smith scored 50 runs off 34 balls and hit three sixes in his innings. Nic Maddinson also notched up his fifty off 41 balls and proved to be ideal partner for Smith at the other end who took the charge in the opening overs of the game. Guyana went onto win the game by 6 wickets in the 18th over and managed to qualify for the play-offs of the Caribbean Premier League but Barbados Tridents face uphill task in terms of securing their place in next round in the competition.
