Kolkata Knight Riders impressive winning streak continued as they comfortably outplayed Delhi Daredevils in a game played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa once again proved to the players who produced big runs for the franchise as home side easily chased down a target of 160 runs registered by Delhi while batting first. Nathan-Coulter Nile is the bowler to watch-out for after Australian’s impressive performances time and again as he bagged 3 wickets in this game as well after Sanju Samson provided a brisk to the innings for Delhi.
Knight Riders have made an impression in chasing down totals this season as win against Delhi was the 12th time the hosts have completed a chase at Eden Gardens. Gautam Gambhir has led his side well who knows their roles to a tee. Delhi high potent attack did not deliver as Uthappa and Gambhir put on a 100-run stand to put Kolkata in the box seat to win the game. Uthappa departed due to direct hit from Karun Nair to see score 59 runs while Gambhir stayed till the end to help the side notch up yet another win to move one step closer towards playoffs of Indian Premier League.
Delhi Daredevils need to blame themselves after getting to a perfect start being placed at 123 for 1 after 14 overs only to lose the plot in the next six overs to post 160 runs. Delhi should have scored over 190 runs given the start provided by Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer. Coulter Nile took key wickets of Rishabh Pant and Chris Morris to see Delhi lose momentum at the end of the innings.
Delhi Daredevils are also in the danger zone after losing this game against Kolkata Knight Riders. The side might find it tough in the coming games as Zaheer Khan also sustained an hamstring injury during the game.
