The 26th game in the Caribbean Premier League saw team at the bottom of the league standings, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on mid-card players Trinbago Knight Riders at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed to consolation win over the defending Champions Trinbago Knight Riders to win the game by 34 runs.
Trinbago Knight Riders suffered a big collapse in the pursuit of the total set by Patriots as they lost seven wickets for just 43 runs to lose the game in a disappointing fashion. Colin Munro top scored with 43 runs for Knight Riders but once he was dismissed by medium pacer Krishmar Santokie to start the slide for the team. Sheldon Cotrell and Krishmar Santokie took 3 wickets apiece to see Trinbago Knight Riders get dismissed for 146 runs in the 18th over to give a well-earned win for Patriots who had a poor season in the league.
Earlier in the day, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots batted first after Trinbago won the toss and decided to field first.Evin Lewis was the star for the Patriots as provided the side with good start. The opening stand with JJ Smuts was 65 runs which lay an ideal foundation for other players to play their natural game and post a competitive total on the board.Evin Lewis struck eight sixes in his innings as he scored 79 runs off 40 balls to take his side to post 180 runs after 20 overs. Patriots Skipper Faf du Plessis for a low score but lower order chipped in with vital runs to take the side to post a competitive score for the bowlers to defend. Sunil Narine was best of the bowler for Trinbago Knight Riders as he took three wickets for just 27 runs.
The loss meant that Trinbago Knight Riders will now to win their last game to secure their place in the playoffs of the Caribbean Premier League 2016.
