Dwayne Smith’s batting splendor helps Guyana outgun St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets

The second game of the Caribbean Premier League saw Guyana Amazon Warriors compete against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park, Basseterre

Jason Mohammad was instrumental in helping his side Guyana Amazon Warriors to a hard fought win by four wickets over the Patriots in St. Kitts after Dwayne Smith led the way with his blistering innings of 62 runs off 36 runs to lay an ideal foundation for other batsmen to chase down the score of 165 runs. Smith led the charge with his wide range of strokes that included five sixes and three fours in the first 8 overs. Guyana Amazon Warriors placed at 91 runs after 10 overs with 3 wickets down. Chris Lynn and Dwayne Smith went in quick succession but that never stopped the flow of runs as Jason Mohammad played a wonderful innings of 42 runs off 29 balls and remained unbeaten till the end to steer his side to close win by four wickets.

Earlier in the day, Guyana won the toss and elected to field first. The left arm seamer Sohail Tanvir was the star with the ball as he took out Lendl Simmons to put his side in control of the game. Tanvir came back at the end overs as he dismissed Thisara Perera and Devon Thomas to finish with figures of 4 for 20 while Adam Zampa proved to be handful with his three wickets making his debut in the Caribbean Premier League with a good start. Brad Hodge scored 38 runs off 32 balls and helped his side Patriots reach a modest total of 165 runs after 20 overs.
