Pace bowler Deepak Chahar produced scintillating performance to help India beat West Indies by seven wickets in the third and final game of the T20I series in Guyana on Tuesday. With this result, India completed a 3-0 whitewash over West Indies in the T20I series.
The day started with Indian captain Virat Kohli winning the toss and opting to bowl first. The decision seemed to be a correct one as Deepak Chahar produced a probing spell with new-ball to see West Indies in a spot of bother at 14 for 3 after 3.5 overs.
However, all-rounder Kieron Pollard and wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran led the fightback for West Indies. The duo put on a 66-run partnership to help West Indies post a competitive score on the board.
All-rounder Kieron Pollard finished the innings with the top score of 58 off 45 balls with the help of one four and six sixes. Rovman Powell also produced a quick-fire innings and scored unbeaten 32 not out off 20 balls with the help of two sixes.
Evin Lewis, Carlos Brathwaite and wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran chipped in with crucial runs to see West Indies finish with the score of 146 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.
Pace bowler Deepak Chahar was the star of the show as India registered a seven-wicket win over hosts to complete a clean sweep in the T20I series.
For India, Deepak Chahar was the pick of the bowler as he finished with immaculate figures of three for 4 in his three overs. Navdeep Saini also bowled well and picked two wickets in this game.
Chasing 147 runs to win, India had a poor start as opener Shikhar Dhawan got out cheaply. Lokesh Rahul looked in excellent touch with the bat and scored 20 off 18 balls with the help of two sixes. He stay at the crease was cut short as Fabian Allen dismissed him to see India in a precarious situation at 27 for 2 after 4.4 overs.
However, a mammoth 106 run partnership between Indian Captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant sealed a comfortable win for India.
Pant played exceedingly well in this game and finished the innings with the top score of 65* off 42 with the help of four fours and four sixes, whereas Kohli scored 59 runs off 45 balls, including six boundaries. For West Indies, pacer Oshane Thomas was the best bowler on the night as he finished with figures of 2 for 29 in four overs.
For his outstanding bowling performance, Deepak Chahar was named player of the match.
