David Warner had played good knocks but come the big game against Kolkata Knight Riders he produced one of the scintillating innings in this edition of Indian Premier League. Captain led from the front as he scored 126 runs off 59 balls as he decimated Knight Riders bowling to all parts of the ground. The Sunrisers showcased dominance with the bat as they piled on the runs to score 209 runs off 20 overs.
Knight Riders could not replicate their batting prowess this time around as Mohammad Siraj and Siddharth Kaul made early inroads to reduce visitors at 12 for 2 inside five overs. Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey did produce a valiant fightback of sorts to add 78 runs. Uthappa notched up yet another half-century and smashed four sixes in an innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar ended the partnership as he flummoxed Pandey with leg cutter delivery. Siraj got the big wicket of Uthappa as he went for a big shot only to find Warner at long-off to see Kolkata reduced to 109 for 4 after 12.3 overs.The departure of Uthappa meant that Kolkata did not manage get anything going as they could only get 161 runs off 20 overs to see Sunrisers notch up a win by 48 runs. David Warner was named Player of the Match and currently holds the Orange Cap for Most Runs in Indian Premier League.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are now are at third place with 13 points while Kolkata sit at the top despite their loss to the hosts in the encounter.
