The 22nd game of the Caribbean Premier League saw Barbados Tridents battle it out against St. Lucia Zouks at Darren Sammy International Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.
Darren Sammy continued his splendid run of the form as he produced his best with the ball this time around against Barbados Tridents. Tridents won the toss and started well as they were in a pole position with a score of 55 for no loss after 7 overs before Sammy came onto the attack and turn the tide for his side.
He took two quick wickets of Pakistani players Ahmed Shahzad and Shoaib Malik to see Barbados go 2 wickets down for just 60 runs after nine overs. Kyle Hope played well upfront for his 55 runs of 48 balls to provide Tridents with ideal platform to score a big total but he was undone by Sammy who grabbed his third wicket in the innings. The side seemed to be have capitulated due to pressure as all-rounders like Pollard and Wiese reached double digit scores and could not carry on to get big runs for the side which meant Tridents could only muster 137 runs on the board after 20 overs. Sammy finished with figures of 3 for 18 from his four overs.
St. Lucia Zouks openers Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher put on a 88 run opening partnership to get their side to a good start. Charles and Fletcher both were dismissed in 40s having not all the hard work at the start of the innings. David Miller and Shane Watson continued the good work done by the openers to take the side to win by 7 wickets in the 16th over. Zouks consecutive win gives them a chance of qualifying in the playoffs while Barbados Tridents slumped to fourth loss in eight games played
