Dale Steyn takes four as Jamaica Tallawahs outclass Barbados Tridents by 36 runs in rain affected game

The 20th game of the Caribbean Premier League saw team at the top of standings, Jamaica Tallawahs take on Barbados Tridents at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

Jamaica Tallawahs continued their winning ways as opening batsman Chadwick Wilson struck 97 runs off 54 balls to help his side register a mammoth total of 195 runs on the board after 18 overs before rain halted the play. The match was resumed with 18 overs apiece for both sides. Wilson did form a big partnership of 127 runs with Kumar Sangakkara, who scored a composed half century off 31 balls. Fast Bowler Ravi Rampaul provided Tridents with the ideal start in the innings start as he dismissed Gayle on 8 in the third over

Tridents came with a sense of urgency as openers Hope and Ahmad Shahzad got off to brisk start and but were dismissed to see them placed at 36 for 2 after five overs. The slide started as Malik and Hosein also went to see them at 55 for 4 after eight overs. Nicholas Pooran did put up a spirited effort as he scored 51 runs off 25 balls and striking six sixes in his innings. Pollard also threatened to come off but he was dismissed by fast bowler Dale Steyn who grabbed four wickets and conceded 27 runs to see Jamaica Tallawahs win the game by 36 runs via D/L method. The win meant that Jamaica Tallawahs have qualified for the playoffs.
