Crucial Knocks from Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow help England defeat Pakistan by 4 wickets

The fourth one day game of the series between England and Pakistan was played at Headingly, Leeds. England put yet another good display to notch up their fourth consecutive win in the series as Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow played crucial knocks to take their side to a four wicket victory.

Pakistan side must be lauded for their efforts in this game after a hammering they took at Nottingham. The return of tall left arm pacer Mohammad Irfan proved to have added more potency into the attack as he struck twice in the initial overs of the innings to remove openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales to put pressure back on England who slipped to 59 for 3 after 11 overs in their pursuit of chasing down 248 runs scored by Pakistan. Joe Root could not go to register another half century as he pulled a delivery from medium pacer Hasan Ali only to find the top edge to be taken by fielder at fine leg. Morgan departed as he nicked an off stump delivery off the bowling of Umar Gul with the side needing 175 runs to win the game.

Pakistan side for the first time looked to be in the box seat as England was placed in a precarious position.Ben Stokes made a nice start to the innings and played well with Bairstow as they added over 100 runs to take England close to the eventual target. Stokes played well as he scored 69 runs off 70 balls.He struck six fours and two sixes in his innings. He was eventually dismissed by left arm spinner Imad Wasim.Jonny Bairstow contribution was not far off as he compiled 61 runs off 83 balls and took the supporting role to Ben Stokes very well.In the end, the score on the board was not enough as Moeen Ali scored unbeaten 45 runs to see his side home by four wickets

Earlier in the day, Azhar Ali won the toss and decided to bat first on a good surface at Leeds. Azhar Ali produced good innings as he top scored with 80 runs while the rest of batting order could not make notable impression in the game. It was only Imad Wasim unbeaten innings of 57 runs that helped the side reach to a score of 247 runs after 50 overs. England spinner Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid bowled well while Chris Jordan had good outing with the ball as he picked up two wickets who replaced Chris Woakes in this game.Jos Butler and Mark Wood also were rested as Jonny Bairstow and David Willey made the final XI.
