Jaspreet Bumrah produced an impeccable final over to see India edge out England by five runs in the second T20 game of the series played at Nagpur. The game went down to the wire only for the visitors to fell agonizingly short of a famous series win in India in this format. Ashish Nehra was astounding with the ball besides Bumrah as he bagged three wickets and conceded 28 runs from his four overs.
The England bowling again delivered with the ball in hand to see India muster only 60 runs in the first ten overs. Kohli opened with KL Rahul and scored 15 ball 21 runs before departing back to the pavilion. Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina also perished for low scores to see India placed at 69 for 3 after 11 overs.KL Rahul played a fine innings under pressure to keep the innings intact for India as he notched up a crucial half century and went on to score 71 runs off 47 balls before Chris Jordan dismissed him in the 17th over. Moeen Ali was again exceptional with the ball while Jordan also bowled yorkers at the death overs to restrict India at 144 for 8 after 20 overs.
In the chase, England openers Jason Roy and Sam Billings started off the proceedings in a brisk manner but Ashish came into the attack to take them out to see India get back into the game. Amit Mishra who came in place of Parvez Rasool also took crucial wicket of England captain Eoin Morgan to see the side falter at 65 for 3 after 10 overs.
Ben Stokes came to the crease and added 52 runs with Joe Root to see the side fightback and to push them one step close to the target. Stokes scored 38 runs but was trapped leg before by Nehra to claim his third wicket of the innings. Bumrah and Nehra bowled well in tandem and conceded 8 runs to leave England needing 24 runs off 2 overs.
Ashish Nehra did concede 16 runs in the penultimate over with England now in pole position to win the game as Butler struck a four and six to see the fortunes change in the game. Bumrah came to bowl the last over and varied his pace to trap Root leg before and then outfox Buttler to see India pull off a famous heist by five runs and level the three match series 1-1.The final game of the series will be played on 1st February at Bangalore.
England will have to blame themselves of letting the game slip away from their hands as India would be relieved with this win to setup a mouth-watering clash between the sides at Bangalore.
