Trinbago Knight Rider continued their winning run to extend their lead at the top of points table by brushing aside Guyana Amazon Warriors by seven wickets. Brendon McCullum struck a splendid half century to help his side win the contest to register their sixth win of the season.
The chase saw Trinbago cruise to a comfortable win as McCullum scored an unbeaten 65 runs off 44 balls. He struck four fours and four sixes in his innings. He added 55 runs with Dwayne Bravo to rebuild the innings after early dismissals of Sunil Narine and Colin Munro.
Trinbago struggled against spinners as Veerasammy Permaul and Rashid Khan applied the brakes on the rate of scoring. McCullum had slice of luck in his innings as he survived three close chances against spin of Rashid Khan. Dinesh Ramdin came to the crease and added unbeaten 58 runs with Brendon McCullum to see Trinbago complete the chase in the 15th over of the innings.
Shadab Khan and Kevon Cooper sat on the sidelines for this clash as Sunil Narine was standout performer with the ball in hand. He bowled a miser spell to concede only 11 runs from his four overs to restrict Guyana to 130 runs off 20 overs. Guyana slumped to 39 for 3 after 7 overs but Jason Mohammad played well as he scored 66 runs off 58 balls to help Guyana cross 120-run mark from their full quota of overs.
Last year’s finalist Guyana are the second side to be eliminated from 2017 Caribbean Premier League with Stars being the first to exit the competition.
