Bowlers put in a pitch perfect display as Jamaica Tallawahs trounce St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 108 runs

The 17th game in the Caribbean Premier League 2016 saw team reeling at the bottom in the standings; St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on in form side, Jamaica Tallawahs at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

Jamaica Tallawahs bowling lineup did put in a pitch perfect performance to take their side to the top of the points table in league as they pulled off a comprehensive win against the Patriots by 108 runs.St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots never looked in the game as they bundled out for low score of 75 runs after 15 overs. Tallawahs did register their fourth win in six matches played and are now placed behind Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Lendl Simmons was dismissed early by Andre Russell as Patriots were placed in difficult situation at 12 for 2 after 3 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis also perished playing a big shot against Andre Russell. Jonathan Carter and Evin Lewis got decent starts but could carry on to get a big score as they were dismissed by fast bowler Kesrick Williams to see Patriots lose 5 wickets for a score of 53 runs after nine overs. The rest offered a meek surrender as Steyn and Shakib-ul-Hasan managed to take the lower order wickets to dismiss Patriots for 75 runs and win the game for Tallawahs.

Earlier in the day, Patriots won the toss and decided to field first. Jamaica lost their openers Chris Gayle and Chadwick Wilson early in the innings but Kumar Sangakkara produced a scintillating knock under pressure to help his side post a competitive total of 183 runs on the board after 20 overs. Sangakkara scored 65 runs off 47 balls and struck two sixes in his innings. He did share a partnership of 74 runs with Rowan Powell to stabilize the innings.Rowan Powell also played well for his 35 runs off 23 balls while Shakib-ul-Hasan played unbeaten cameo of 34 runs off 17 balls to push the score beyond 170 runs that in the end proved to a daunting total for Patriots.
