The second T20I game of Zimbabwe Tri-series 2018 saw Australia complete a comfortable win over Pakistan at Harare Sports Club. Pacer Billy Stanlake produced a menacing spell with the new-ball to see Pakistan manage to score only 116 runs in 19.3 overs. Stanlake managed to register splendid figures of 4 for 8 from his quota of overs. His bowling performance comes second best for Australia behind James Faulkner’s five wickets against Pakistan. Aaron Finch produced a brisk 68 off 33 balls to see Australia canter to a comfortable win.
Pakistan got off to worse possible start as Billy Stanlake dismissed Mohammad Hafeez in the first over of the innings. Hafeez registered a duck in his comeback game for Pakistan. Hussain Talat also perished for a low score as Stanlake had him caught at gully to see Pakistan lose their second wicket. Fakhar Zaman and Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed were dismissed in space of few overs to see Stanlake take four wickets in his first three overs.
Shoaib Malik fought hard for Pakistan and added 22 runs with Asif Ali. Malik was run-out after a terrible mix-up with Asif saw him well short of the crease. Asif Ali chipped in with 22 off 20 balls before getting cleaned up by Marcus Stoinis. Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf scored useful 20s to help Pakistan cross 100-run mark in their innings.
For Australia, Billy Stanlake was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets. Andrew Tye picked up three wickets and conceded 38 runs from his quota of overs.
In reply, Aaron Finch got Australia off to brisk start and added 35 runs with D’Arcy Short in space of four overs. D’Arcy Short was dismissed by Hasan Ali for 15, but Finch continued to play his shots to see Australia complete the chase inside 11 overs. He scored unbeaten 68 runs and added 82-run partnership with Travis Head to help Australia win the game by 9 wickets.
For his breathtaking spell, Billy Stanlake was named man of the match.
