Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Nuwan Pradeep hand Sri Lanka T20I series win over Pakistan

Clinical bowling performance saw Sri Lanka register a comfortable 30-run win over Pakistan in the second T20I of the three-match series at Gaddafi Cricket Stadium, Lahore on Monday.

The day started with Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka winning the toss and opting to bat first. The decision proved to be a correct one as Sri Lanka managed to post a competitive score of 182 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Rookie batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa delivered scintillating performance with the bat. He scored 77 runs off 48 balls with the help of four fours and six sixes. He was well supported by Shehan Jayasuriya, who chipped in with 34 runs off 28 balls with the help of boundaries.

Sri Lanka Captain Dasun Shanaka’s brisk cameo helped the side post push their beyond 170-run mark. He smashed 27 runs off 15 balls with the help of three fours and a six.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Imad Wasim was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, as he picked up one wicket and just gave away 27 runs in his four overs.

Chasing 183 runs to level the T20I series, Pakistan once again failed to get off to a good start and were reduced to 52 for 5 after 8 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed failed to capitalize on his good start and perished after scoring 26 off 13 balls with the help of three fours.

Lowe-order batsman Imad Wasim produced a valiant innings and scored 47 off 29 balls with the help of eight fours. Pinch-hitter Asif Ali scored 29 off 27 balls but it wasn’t enough as Pakistan were bundled out for 147 runs in 19 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Pacer Nuwan Pradeep claimed four wickets, whereas Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga claimed three wickets.

For his splendid batting performance, Bhanuka Rajapaksa was awarded man of the match.

The third and final game of the T20I series will be played on Wednesday at Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore.
