Afghanistan are all set to tour Bangladesh for a three match one day series this month. The side has come a long way since the country has been ravaged by war for a longest time possible. Afghanistan has shown mental strength and character in global events to be a good outfit in the future as they play more competitive cricket against top teams. They already have defeated sides like Zimbabwe, Ireland and Bangladesh. They also humbled West Indies in a group game in World T20 held earlier this year in India.
The side is led by Asghar Stanikzai and has some good players in the side such as Mohammad Shehzad, Shapur Zadran, Samiullah Shinwari and Hamid Hassan. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be pretty confident that the side will come out on top after brushing aside biggies like Pakistan, India and South Africa in bilateral contests last year. The inclusion of Somaya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Shakib ul Hassan and Rubel Hossain makes them a dominant proposition while playing at home.
Afghanistan must expect turning wickets that will be made by hosts to aid the spinners and the slow off cutters produced by Mustafizur Rahman will provide stiff test to the touring batsmen. The visitors can take heart from the fact that they have defeated Bangladesh in 2014 Asia Cup so Bangladesh cannot take them lightly at any stage.
