The second and final T20 game of the series between hosts Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was played at R Premadasa in Colombo. Bangladesh capped off the series in Sri Lanka with a comfortable win in this game to level the two-match series 1-1.The side gave perfect sendoff to their captain Mashrafe Mortaza who announced his retirement from the game.
Mortaza won the toss and made no hesitation in batting first on the wicket. Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar chipped with good scores at the top of the order while Shakib Al Hasan also chipped with 38 runs to see Bangladesh register 176 runs on the board. Lasith Malinga took a hat-trick as he dismissed three Bangladeshi players in consecutive deliveries to become the fifth bowler to achieve this milestone in the T20 format.
Sri Lanka faltered in the chase as Shakib Al Hasan dismissed opener Kusal Perera and Dilshan Munaweera in the initial over of the innings. Captain Upul Tharanga scored 23 runs before he was dismissed by Mahmudullah to see Bangladesh lose their third wicket with 40 runs on the board. Asela Gunaratne and Melinda Siriwardena were dismissed in consecutive deliveries by left arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman to see Sri Lanka reeling at 40 for 5 after 5.2 overs. Chamara Kapugedera tried to delay the inevitable as he notched up his 50 runs off 35 balls while the rest of the order gave their wickets away to see hosts fold for 131 runs in the 18th over.
Bangladesh ended their on tour to Sri Lanka on a high note while hosts will rue the fact that they failed to take their chances to win the series this time as well.
