The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Azhar Mahmood as interim bowling coach of Pakistan Cricket Team for the major cricketing events like WorldT20 and Asia Cup.The veteran all rounder is expected to be a part of the team on Thursday at Dhaka.
Azhar Mahmood has replaced Mushtaq Ahmed for the events according a source from Pakistan Cricket Board.
The maverick legspinner Mushtaq Ahmed is rested due to performing continuous duties that has resulted in exhaustion and is expected to come back into the national setup for the important tour to England in June this summer.
Mushtaq Ahmed,former leg spinner has served in the coaching role for Pakistan national side since the year 2014.Since his retirement from the game in 2003,he has opted to become a professional coach and has served in various capacities with teams like England and Pakistan.
Azhar Mahmood has been playing domestic cricket since last playing for Pakistan in World Cup 2007.He is an experienced all-rounder having played 225 t20s.He has played in various T20 leagues around the world like Indian Premier League,Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League to name a few in his long career.
Azhar has been involved in minor stints or roles in clubs in England and UAE.His appointment will provide to invaluable experience in these tournaments as he has huge amount of T20 cricket that could help Pakistan Team come up trumps in the WorldT20 held in India.
