Andre Russell shines as Jamaica Tallawahs defeat Trinbago Knight Riders by 19 runs

The 19th game of the Caribbean Premier League saw leaders at the top, Jamaica Tallawahs take on defending Champions Trinbago Knight Riders at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

Andre Russell was at his ruthless best with explosive hitting in the end that took Tallawahs from 119 for 6 to a competitive score of 158 runs after 20 overs. He was clever his rotation of the strike and managed to face the majority of the balls in the last overs of the innings. He scored 44 runs off 24 balls and struck three sixes in his innings.

Kevon Cooper was able to get Gayle early in the innings as Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and decided to field first. Chadwick Wilson also departed after scoring 16 runs while Kumar Sangakkara also made 23 runs before being dismissed by Cooper.Kevon C ooper was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets while Rowan Powell made a telling contribution with the bat early in the innings with 34 ball 44 runs that included two fours and four sixes. The late blitz by Russell made sure that Knight Riders managed to score above 150 runs in their innings.

Trinbago Knight Riders lost crucial wickets of opener Brendon McCullum and Colin Munro in the chase. Hashim Amla was the top scorer for the side as he made 42 runs off 36 balls. Amla was dismissed in the fifteen with ever increasing asking rate at the time Knight Riders needed 60 runs off six overs to win the game.Dinesh Ramdin and DJ Bravo did try to increase rate of scoring but in the end they fell short by 19 runs. Andre Russell was once again the player with the ball as he took 4 wickets for 23 runs to be awarded man of the match in the game.
