The 3rd game of the Caribbean Premier League 2016 saw Barbados Tridents take on defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The defending Champions after a disappointment opening game against St. Kitts Zouks put up a commendable performance in their second game against Barbados Tridents. Hashim Amla led the way from the front as he scored 81 runs off 54 balls and struck four sixes in his innings. The rest of order did play well until DJ Bravo came to the crease when the side was reeling at 20 for 4 after 5 overs. Amla and Bravo put 150-run partnership to take their side to post a commendable total after early jitters in the innings after put Barbados won the toss and elected to field first.
Barbados Tridents in the chase got off to a decent start as openers Kyle Hope and Steven Taylor put on 41 run for the opening wicket. Trinbago Knight Riders did claw their way back as they took two wickets to see Tridents placed at 67 for 2 after 11 overs. Shoaib Malik made 28 runs while AB de Villiers and Kieron Pollard failed to impress on the day as they went for single digit scores. David Wiese also went back to the pavilion as he was run out due to a mix up. Nicholas Pooran fought valiantly at the end with his 33 runs off 12 balls.He hit two fours and three sixes to take his side but eventually Trinbago came out the victorious at the end by 11 runs.
