Rohit’s masterclass helps India win against Bangladesh in Asia Cup

The first match of  T20 Asia Cup was played between the host Bangladesh and India at Shere Bangla National Stadium.Mirpur.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to field first on helpful green surface.The hosts included four pacers to make of use of conditions prevalent.

The Bangladesh pacers took out Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in their opening spells leaving them placed at 22 for 2 after 4 overs.Rohit Sharma stepped up and continued his supreme run of form from the tour to Australia and scored a top notch innings of 83 runs off 55 balls that included seven fours and three sixes.Though he had a chance spilled by Shakib-ul -Hasan when on 21.Suresh Raina also went early without making any notable contribution and Yuvraj Singh also followed him after scoring 16 runs.

Rohit Sharma continued to score freely and hitting bowlers at will to take India to a score of 166 runs after a helpful knock of 31 runs played by Hardik Pandya.The youngster promoted ahead repaid the faith of the captain and team management as India reached a competitive total on helpful pitch for seamers.

Bangladesh got off to a terrible start losing openers Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Mithun in the early overs.Sabbir Rahman top scored with 44 runs and played some delightful strokes but the rest of batting could not provide adequate support as wickets continued to fell at the other end.

All indian bowlers especially Ashish Nehra was pick of the pacers as he took 3 wickets while Jaspreet Bumrah and Ashwin bowled tidy spells to help India register their first win in the Asia Cup 2016.
