Sharjeel Khan and Mohamamad Sami are the newest addition to the Pakistan’s squad for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup after injuries to Rumman Raees and Babar Azam.
The selectors also picked Khalid Latif and dropped Iftikhar Ahmed due to his consistent performances.Babar Azam has been ruled out for 3 weeks atleast after suffering a fracture on his left forearm while Ruman Raees is suffering from Hamstring injury which will take time to recover.
The chairman of selection committee Haroon Rashid did indicated that the decision was made keeping in mind the performances exhibited by players in the inaugural domestic league.
Sharjeel Khan,Khalid Latif and Mohammad Sami are all part of Islamabad United who will lock horns with Quetta Gladiators in the final of inaugural Pakistan Super League to be played on Tuesday.
Sharjeel hit a sublime century against Peshawar Zalmi after rough run of form but still is third highest scorer in the league with 287 runs.
Mohammad Sami also has taken 11 wickets from six games which includes a five wicket haul against Karachi Kings.Khalid Latif was selected for his power hitting as suggested by chief selector Haroon Rashid.
Khalid Latif has scored 190 runs in six matches at a magnanimous strike rate of 114.5.
The chairman of selection committee Haroon Rashid said that the changes were made in consulation with Head Coach Waqar Younis and Skipper Shahid Afridi due to performances given in inaugural domestic league held in desert shores of UAE.
Sharjeel Khan last played T20 game for Pakistan in December 2013 while Mohammad Sami also returned into national colors in the home series against Zimbabwe in 2015.Latif has last played for Pakistan in 2012 at the international arena.
