Pakistan put in a clinical performance with bat and ball to beat Australia in the T20 Tri-series game played at Harare. Fakhar Zaman produced a special performance with the bat to help Pakistan post 194 for 7 in 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi chipped in with splendid bowling performance to see Pakistan win the game by 45 runs. The green shirts will be confident of beating Australia in the Tri-series finale to be played on Sunday.
Haris Sohail perished for a duck but Fakhar Zaman and Hussain Talat added 72-run to rebuild the innings. Zaman produced his career-best innings of 73 off 42 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes. Talat chipped in with 30 runs off 25 balls before being dismissed by Glenn Maxwell.
Zaman continued to be the aggressor for Pakistan as he brought his half-century off 33 balls with a big six off Andrew Tye. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed fell for 14 runs to see Pakistan lose their third wicket. Shoaib Malik scored a brisk 15-ball 27 runs to see Pakistan cross the 150-run mark in the 17th over of the innings. Asif Ali delivered with the bat and smashed a quick-fire 37 runs to help Pakistan post a competitive score on the board.
Earlier, Aaron Finch could not repeat his heroics from the previous game. He was dismissed for 16 runs by left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. D’Arcy Short got off to good start but once again failed to convert it into a big score.
Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell and Nic Maddinson fell for cheap scores as Australia were tottering at 67 for 4 after 10 overs. Short also could not last any longer as he was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi to see Australia lose their fifth wicket. Alex Carey put up a valiant effort with the bat but it wasn’t enough as Australia could only manage 149 for 7 in 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Fakhar Zaman was named player of the match for his splendid batting performance.
