Batsman scores unbeaten 90 off just 39 balls to help RCB register six-wicket win
AB de Villiers produced an outstanding knock to help Royals Challengers Bangalore in registering a six-wicket win against Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangalore on Saturday.The day started with the home side captain Virat Kohli winning the toss and opting field first. His decision proved a correct one as the visitors lost both openers Gautam Gambhir and Jason Roy inside the first six overs at the score of just 23.
A 75-run third-wicket partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant stabilize the ship as Delhi finished with a competitive score of 174 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.Pant finished with a brilliant 85 off just 48 balls with the help of six fours and seven sixes, whereas Iyer scored 52 off 31 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.
For the home side, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed two, whereas Umesh Yadav, Corey Anderson, and Washington Sundar claimed a wicket each.
In reply, Bangalore had an equally poor start as they lost openers Manan Vohra and Quinton de Kock at the score of just 29 inside the first five overs.However, a 73-run partnership for the third wicket between Kohli and De Villiers steadied the ship. But once Kohli departed after scoring 30 off just 26 balls with the help of two fours and one six, it was AB De Villiers’ show from there on who scored unbeaten 90 off just 39 balls with the help of 10 fours and five sixes to seal a comfortable victory for the home side.
Young Mandeep Singh also played a handy knock of 17 not out off nine balls with the help of one four and one six, whereas Anderson scored 15 off 13 balls.
For Delhi, Trent Boult, Glenn Maxwell and Harshal Patel claimed a wicket each.
