Peerless Shadab Khan helps Trinbago Knight Riders overcome St Lucia Stars

Trinbago Knight Riders came out on top against St. Lucia Stars in a topsy-turvy game played at Port of Spain in the Caribbean Premier League. Shadab Khan continued his rich vein of form and this time contributed with the bat in hand to see his secure a four-wicket win over Stars.

Hosts Trinbago slumped to 75 for 6 while chasing a below par score of 119 runs posted by St Lucia Stars who batted first in the game. Shadab came to the crease with the side desperately in need of a partnership. He added 45 runs with Jevon Searles to see the side knock off the runs in the 15th over of the game.

Kevin Cooper was the standout bowler for Trinbago as he claimed three wickets to restrict Stars to just 119 runs off 20 overs. Brendon McCullum played a breezy innings to see Knight Riders get off to flier. Shane Shillingford expertise with the ball came to the fore as he dismissed four key players to see Trinbago land in a spot of bother in the game.

He dismissed Colin Munro, Dinesh Ramdin and Darren Bravo in no time as batting side lacked application on a surface that looked sluggish from the outset. Mitchell McClenaghan took crucial wicket of Captain Dwayne Bravo to see Trinbago stand on the verge of losing the game. Shadab Khan came out to the middle and played a composed unbeaten n innings of 30 runs to help his side secure a much-needed win.

Earlier, St Lucia Stars could only manage 119 runs from their 20 overs. Andre Fletcher and Darren Sammy played good knocks but the rest of the batting lineup failed to stand up to a tidy bowling performance produced by Trinbago’s bowlers. Shadab Khan was once again economical in his four-over spell as he picked one wicket, but conceded only 16 runs.

Shadab was named of the match for his all-round performance as Trinbago are at the top of the pile in the points table with two wins out of two. St Lucia Stars are at the bottom of the league with two losses in the fifth edition of Caribbean Premier League.
