Kesrick Williams and Odean Smith bowled splendidly well for Jamaica Tallawahs to setup a comfortable win for the reigning champions against Trinbago Knight Riders in a game played at Port of Spain.
Kumar Sangakkara came to the party for the side at the right time as he led the way with 47 runs off 41 balls to lead his side to four-wicket victory in the contest. Lendl Simmons added 61 runs at the top of the order with Sangakkara. Simmons was the aggressor of the duo as he launched an assault on Kevon Cooper and Khary Pierre. He smoked three sixes in an over to see Jamaica get off to a good start.
Shadab Khan came into the attack and ended the partnership to remove Simmons. Sunil Narine also took out Andre McCarthy and Rovman Powell to see Jamaica get reduced to 93 for 3 after 11 overs. Shakib Al Hasan chipped with crucial runs and added 30 runs with Sangakkara to see Tallawahs avoid further more hiccups in the chase. Despite wickets of Sangakkara and Shakib at the end, it wasn’t enough as Imad Wasim steered his side over the line.
Earlier, Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a good start as Darren Bravo and Colin Munro added 57 runs to see the side comfortably placed at 109 for 3 after 10 overs. Krishmar Santokie dismissed Munro which turned the tide for Jamaica afterwards. The hosts lost a lot of wickets to see them get to a modest total of 147 runs off 20 overs.
Dwayne Bravo and co. should have got much more that as they lost last eight wickets for just 38 runs. Kesrick Williams and Odean Smith took three wickets apiece as Jamaica have now collected four points from three games played in the competition.
