Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan produced splendid performance with the bat to see Sunrisers Hyderabad overcome Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs in the 21st game of Indian Premier League played at Hyderabad.
The reigning champions Sunrisers notched up their fourth win out of six games played to move to second position in the overall points table. Delhi paid a big price for not opting to play Shahbaz Nadeem and not giving Chris Morris the push up the order during the chase. They are still at fourth place following their defeat. A target of 192 runs proved to be stiff ask as Sam Billings smashed three consecutive boundaries in the second over of the innings. Siraj had the last laugh as he dismissed Billings in the very next over after being taken apart in the previous one. Karun Nair came out to join Sanju Samson as duo added 71 runs to provide a good platform for Delhi to chase down the runs posted by Hyderabad. Samson scored 42 runs while Shreyas Iyer played an unbeaten knock of 50 runs and added 70 runs with Angelo Matthews but it was not enough as the Bhuvneshwar Kumar spent down tight spells to make sure Sunrisers come out on top in the contest.
Earlier, Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. David Warner was dismissed for 12 runs but Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan added 136 runs to put the side in a box seat. Williamson top scored for the side with 89 runs 51 balls and smashed five sixes. While Dhawan was not far as he scored 70 runs off 50 balls to help Sunrisers post 191 runs from 20 overs. Chris Morris produced excellent figures of 4 for 26 from his four-overs to be the pick of bowlers for Delhi Daredevils.
