The most awaited match of the WorldT20 2016 between arch-rivals India and Pakistan has been shifted from Dharamsela to Eden Gardens,Kolkata due to security reasons and acrimony raised by different political outfits in India.
David Richardson,Chief Executive of ICC made an announcement on Wednesday in Delhi that the government will provide full proof security for the event, therefore ending uncertainty over the game.
Pakistan Cricket Board has delayed the departure of their men’s and women’s cricket teams in India as a security guarantee must be given by the Indian government and BCCI to make a final call.
The Board has suggested Pakistan Cricket Team must be given assurances due to pressure and threats received from various political parties to create an untoward incident during the game against India.PCB is taking due diligence in such matters as sending national team without no guarantee could mean possible worse case scenario happening with the team in India.
The Chief Executive Dave Richardson clearly stated the location for the game between India and Pakistan has been moved due to security reasons. The initial doubts were raised when Chief Minister of Himanchal Pradesh warned of carrying out rallies and protests to abandon the game.
The reason for shifting the location of the game were also security concerns as reported by Pakistan Security Officials during their visit to Dharamsela.
One can hope now that Pakistan does participate in the tournament and the match against India is carried out in a congenial environment.
