Guyana Amazon Warriors produced a consolation win against Barbados Tridents after being eliminated from the competition this week. Chadwick Walton continued his prolific run with the bat to score 92 runs off 57 balls. He smashed six sixes in his innings to help side chase down a target of 160 runs posted by Tridents who batted first.
Sohail Tanvir opened the innings as he added 48 runs with Chadwick Walton to see Guyana get off to a flier. Walton was particularly ruthless in his innings as he took smoked Imran Khan for two sixes and a four in the fifth over of the innings. Tanvir perished after scoring 16 runs but Chadwick Walton continued to attack the bowlers. Martin Guptill played himself in as he produced 27 runs off 33 balls to put on 81 run partnership with Walton to see the win the contest in the 19th over of the innings.
Pollard dismissed Walton and Guptill in quick succession but in the end it proved to be too late as Rayad Emrit and Assad Fudadin knocked off the remaining runs to see their side win the game.
Earlier in the game, Dwayne Smith smashed a superb ton to propel Tridents to post 160 runs on the board. He added 107 runs with fellow opener Kane Williamson who also played well for his 47 runs. Tridents could not increase their rate of scoring as Guyana’s spin duo of Veerasammy Paul and Rashid Khan never allowed them to get any freebies. Smith eventually went on the charge to take 19 runs off Tanvir’s third over.
Barbados Tridents have now conceded their fourth defeat of 2017 Caribbean Premier League while Guyana are now level on-points with Tridents after winning this contest.
